Cyber Security Awareness Seminar at Greater Noida College

Greater Noida College successfully organized a seminar on “Cyber Security Awareness” on 2nd June 2025. The event was graced by the blessings of Shri B.L. Gupta Ji(Honorable Chairman - GN Group of Institutes), and under the valuable guidance of Dr. Harendra Nagar(Director-GNC).

The keynote speaker for the event was Mr. Vipin Yadav, Senior Cyber Security Engineer at Cyber Defentech, who enlightened the audience with his in-depth knowledge and real-world experience in the field of cyber security.

Topics Covered During the Seminar:
Loopholes in Websites and Security Infrastructure:
Mr. Yadav discussed how poorly coded or misconfigured websites and systems can become easy entry points for hackers. He highlighted common vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and outdated software that cyber criminals often exploit.

Data Breaches:
Real-life examples of massive data breaches were shared to demonstrate how sensitive information is compromised. The session emphasized the consequences of such breaches on businesses and individuals, including financial loss and identity theft.

Roles of Defenders in Cyber Security:
The seminar explained the crucial role played by cyber defenders—professionals who proactively monitor, detect, and respond to threats. Their job is to safeguard systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access and attacks.

Need for Ethical Hackers in Society:
Mr. Yadav underlined the importance of ethical hacking and how certified professionals legally test systems for vulnerabilities. Ethical hackers help organizations strengthen their defenses and prevent future cyber attacks.

Securing Systems from Malware:
The session also covered methods to protect against various types of malware, including viruses, ransomware, and spyware. Tips on using antivirus tools, safe browsing habits, and system updates were shared to promote safer digital practices.

The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Dr. Harendra Nagar, who appreciated the speaker's contribution and applauded the efforts of the organizing and coordinating team.

The event was jointly organized by Dr. Dhiresh Kumar Pathak (HOD – ASH), Mr. Ayush Sharma (HOD – CSE), and Ms. Leena Tiwari, coordinated efficiently by the GNC Team, and gracefully hosted by Ms. Sneha Raina.
